๐ŸŽง [Sensible Woo] The truth is on fire. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Hey Reader,

๐Ÿ“ This is a special message, so you don't need to unsubscribe from your weekly updates. If you don't want to hear about podcast news from Sensible Woo, click here to silence anything else about this... and you'll still get your Tarot reading on Saturday!

It's spilled tea... but it's also on fire. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

True story:
My sound designer & editor, Chris Martin, and I have a private channel on my Discord server so we can toss messages back and forth about podcast episodes as they move their way down the production pipeline. Last week, I received a ping:

Listen, I think we might be a little biased behind-the-scenes ๐Ÿ˜œ, but statements like this are *not* thrown around lightly. So, Chris dropped the edited file into our organized little production hub on Google Drive and I finally had a listen while making dinner.

My reaction: OMG this episode is FIRE. ๐Ÿฅต

Like, the we-all-needed-to-hear-the-unvarnished-truth kind of fire.
The kind of fire that should make you just a little bit uncomfortable.
The kind of fire that I do *not* hear from other business podcasts... and it's a crying shame.

This is the kind of fire that makes you say, "We have to do this better... and we can."

The worst monsters in this episode from "The Last of Us" are the humans. It's the utter denial that we are capable of as humans that makes Tonya's episode, "Please Hold to my Hand," painful to watch.

And guess what? THIS is what happens in entrepreneurship today. This is the story of leadership-gone-wrong put into plain spoken words.

  • Today I dare you to listen.
  • Today I dare you to *not* look away.
  • Today I dare you to really hear the truth about what we've all been in denial about when it comes to our celebrity entrepreneur culture.
  • Today is when you realize you have more choice than you've taken action on... and you're probably going to want to take some actions after this.

You *will* question the programs & memberships you are enrolled in, whether you paid $0 or $50k.

Getting to a better place requires finally breaking through the tough stuff.

I'll see you in your earbuds... ๐Ÿ˜˜

Podcast Episode Title:

โ€‹Human Drama, The Infected, and Communities: Business Leadership Lessons from The Last of Usโ€‹

Summary description:

Host Mary Williams engages in a thought-provoking conversation with special guest Tonya Kubo as they unravel the layers of post-apocalyptic drama and its profound impact on human behavior.

"The Last of Us," known for its gripping storytelling, vividly illustrates the breakdown of structured society. As a community designer, Tonya shares her insights on the importance of creating safe structures within both communities and businesses, drawing parallels between the challenges faced in the series and those encountered in the entrepreneurial world.

This episode dives into the complex moral negotiations portrayed in "The Last of Us," highlighting the value of various characters and questioning the basis of their worth in dire circumstances. It's a reflection of how humans can oscillate between heroes and villains when facing adversity, a phenomenon that echoes in both post-apocalyptic settings and business communities.

This discussion offers entrepreneurs valuable insights into setting themselves apart by approaching challenges uniquely and considering the consequences of their choices.

Quote from the episode

We see these humans negotiate their morals left and right. And for me, what this shows to me is part of why I'm so passionate about designing community. I want a structure where people can thrive. I want to be the person who sets up the structure that's safe.
