๐Ÿƒ [Sensible Woo] The air is fresher this way... ๐Ÿ„

Hey Reader,

You know, it's times like this that I sometimes miss writing my old Thursday Three series of newsletters. You can take the girl out of the entertainment industry, but you cannot take the love of entertainment out of this girl. ๐Ÿค“

My latest series obsession? The Last of Us on HBO. #hotdiggitydog This series is amazing.

I used to know people who were on the creative teams that built the original video game, so I knew enough about it, and because I'm not a gamer, I thought, "Meh... another apocalypse universe. I think I'll watch a comedy, thankyouverymuch."

Then I heard about the feature film falling apart in development (byyyye ๐Ÿ‘‹) but finally picked up with HBO treatment... and I thought, "That show has already got baggage." #pass ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ

After unsuccessfully tuning out the hype I caved and got on the bandwagon... 4 weeks late.

And then episode 3. ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ The Ballad of Bill and Frank. As if the first 30 minutes of the first episode hadn't already brought me to my knees. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Y'all. I am NOT a Kleenex user. I do not get weepy at movies.

But this story. ๐Ÿซฅ Guts ๐Ÿ˜ญ me ๐Ÿ˜ญ every ๐Ÿ˜ญ f*in ๐Ÿ˜ญ episode.

So you know what I'm thinking... ๐Ÿซ  It's a business journey analogy!!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I promise I won't ruin this for you. Without spoiling anything, here's the big nugget:

It's a story about retaining humanity in the midst of total destruction. The world everyone knows is gone. And do you know what I've been talking about lately with other business leaders?

โžก๏ธ There is a very noticeable shift happening in our online business economy. No one has answers. It's not the apocalypse (puh-leeze, please don't take this literally ๐Ÿ™ƒ) but it's like the early days of any pandemic.

You can tell something is not quite right, but we don't know what is really happening or what the shift is showing us in terms of patterns... yet. We just know the way people are consuming content and choosing their purchases is *very* not-what-it-used-to-be. Some of it is surprisingly pleasant but the expected behavior of tried-and-true methods is tanking.

And in order to come out the other side alive... to preserve the very precious nature of your gift for helping your customers, you need an expert guide. So, am I thinking coaches like myself are the equivalent of Joel & Tess as smugglers? LOL maybe. ๐Ÿ˜œ

But mostly, it's about the need for expert guides, now more than ever. It's the need for trust, knowing that you'll be protected and we're all in this together. Your guides don't know the answers about the meaning of life, but they do know the safest paths and know how to protect you. #strengthinnumbers

There are a plethora of zaddy & daddy memes flying around about Pedro Pascal and if it helps to think of Sensible Woo as your business mommy... I'm here for you, boo. ๐ŸงŸโ€โ™€๏ธ

Super grateful I'm on a gluten free diet these days... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

tip of the week

Fair warning: This week's video is a one hour masterclass. ๐Ÿค“ Remember that community survey from a few months ago? Well... this week I've broken down and picked apart how it was used, why it was used, and the strategic decisions I made based on your feedback from that survey.

I say it in this video and I'll say it again here: Surveys are just ONE measurement that you use in making decisions for your business. They are very imperfect because they are (1) passive experiences and (2) typcially have the lowest rate of response when researching your audience.

However! It's Librarian Hour and I'm here to show you how to really maximize this tool because it's pretty nifty when you use it in the right context.

Here's what I am inviting you to take action on this week:

  1. Watch the video and leave me a comment about what you'd like to learn from your own community this year. Maybe you even have some recent survey data of your own... how did this help you analyze that better?
  2. โ€‹Subscribe to my channel so you don't miss more of this... bonus points for sharing with friends. ๐Ÿ’•

attention worthy

Our month-long bundled mastermind is well under way (you can still hop in if you'd like... see the offering section, below) and this 1-on-1 discussion with Megan Graves (her session on ADHD for Entrepreneurs is on February 27) was so full of replies, comments, and feedback, I clipped it out so you can ponder on this for the week. This is not the actual discussion, but you can get the whole thing inside the main container.

This concept of retaining the humanity in your business through thoughtful application of automation & delegation is a major ethos at Sensible Woo. It builds a really beautiful bridge into the Incubator, which you can get a sneak peek at right here... ๐Ÿ‘‡

Here's what people are saying...

OMG...this is so good! The idea that you need to prepare for success BEFORE the success emerges is so important. A good friend of mine had an article featured by Parents' magazine. Her website host was not professional grade and crashed under the traffic. That was the least of the issue...she also didn't have the capacity to support the media inquiries that came either. It was what she had worked for but she never realized the infrastructure required to leverage the visibility she wanted.
This was such a fabulous conversation. I had an incredible time learning about community strategy with Tonya!
Ohhhhhh same same Megan - I don't do my best most creative and rejuvenating work alone --- I need grand patches of time/space to do my part, but I need meaningful inputs, consistently. Goal: identifying what those specific - these work for me circumstances, time, space, people, art, etc...
This is insanely amazing! I love the "feelings" behind the time blocking strategy. I know my ups and downs of mental health/seasons absolutely affects my productivity. Instead of an "it is what it is" mentality, I've really tried to be more aware of blocking for those cycles. Even just the awareness of my tendencies has led to more action and intentionality on my part -- instead of straight up avoidance! Throw in some ADHD and I'm all over the place chasing squirrels!
